AFFIRMING AN INCLUSIVE PRIESTHOOD, ROOTED IN A REFORMED AND RENEWED CHURCH

Murray, Bernard J.

New York City. January 2, 2001

Married Priest Bernard J. Murray, 85, died in New York City on January 2nd. Bernie was a native of Syracuse, a professor of theology at Le Moyne College and a former Jesuit. Bernie was on the first board of directors of the Professional Development Group, a New York City based organization of married priests in the late '70's and early '80's which helped many priests and religious with employment and social contacts as they made their difficult transitions.

Bernie loved the Church deeply and was thrilled when asked to review a book for America Magazine several years ago. He had many friends in the Western NY area. Our heartfelt condolences to Anne, his beloved wife of 25 years, and his many nieces and nephews. Bernie was a giant of a man and will be truly missed.
