William 88, of Phoenix passed away on September 17, 2013. Bill died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born October 24, 1924, in Fargo North Dakota to William and Winifred Fitzgerald. He served with honor in the US Navy, the Pacific Theatre, during WWII. In 1958, he was ordained a priest into the Franciscan Order. Father William spent most of his religious life serving the Missions in Peru. After given dispensation from the active priesthood, Bill married Norma Martinez, August 10, 1973. He served in the Arizona Department of Economic Security for 20 years until his retirement. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Fitzgerald. He is survived by his sister Mary Frances Boyer of Cleveland, OH. In Phoenix, he will be missed by his nephew Tom and Ivy Boyer, as well as his niece Debbie and Geoff Habgood.

Bill was loved and will be missed by his Martinez Family, Jolene and Fred, Jeanetta Mae, Gilbert and Eileen, Ralph and Irene, and Paula and Michael Garcia. Numerous loving nieces and nephews will miss "Uncle Bill" A Catholic Mass to celebrate the life of William Fitzgerald will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 6pm. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, 8502 W Pinchot Avenue - Phoenix, AZ 85027. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Our Lady of Guadalupe will be appreciated.
