Ausberger, Charles Peter

REST IN PEACE

Charles Peter Ausberger age 88, was born on October 16, 1935, and passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Clara Ausberger, and his brothers Richard and William. 

Charles is survived by his wife of 47 1/2 years Sue (Yurisich) Ausberger and his three daughters: Sara Ann (Patrick) Stockton, Anna Kathleen (Daniel) Ausberger-Douglass and Katrina Sue Ausberger; his six grandchildren: Amelia and Gretchen Douglass, Grahan and Rory Stockton, Joseph and Zachary Ausberger; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charles graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary and from Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas.  He was ordained to the priesthood in 1961 serving in parishes in the Grand Rapids and Gaylord Dioceses.  He received dispensation from the priesthood in 1975 and married his wife Sue in 1976. 

Charles was employed by the city of Grand Rapids from June of 1975 to August of 2012 as a dispatcher, radio technician and installer for both the fire and police departments.  Charles was instrumental in establishing, installing, and helped in running the radio station WXTO out of Aquinas College in the 1960’s.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday May 17, 2024. At 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church where the family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass.

Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice would be appreciated.
