Donald Kohles was 78 when he died. The 12th of 14 children, Don was a bright fun -loving and outgoing child beset with many health issues. Ordained a priest in 1958 he served in several parishes and also taught in high school for ten years. In 1974 he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree. He resigned the clerical state in 1978 and the following year married Barbara Heinen. He coordinated the Community Ministry office of Transfiguaration parish in San Jose and was on the founding board of Loaves and Fishes Family Kitchen. Don's simplicity and gentleness, his compassionate sensitivity made him a friend of everyone.
